I hope you enjoyed last week’s article on the Italian “tamburello” and its complex history and many traditions in southern and central Italy.
Today I made a short playlist as a compendium to that piece.
I have included some traditional players and some more modern takes, and I hope it can serve as an overview on the Tamburello nowadays.
All the regions and styles mentioned in the article are represented here and there are also a few players who mix everything up and add frame drumming techniques that come from other traditions.
I have also added a couple of tracks from my album Zahr featuring Andrea Piccioni on tamburello and the magnificent voice of Lucilla Galeazzi to represent our takes on some traditional music of Puglia and Campania.
You can listen to the Spotify playlist here

If you have any questions about these tracks and musicians let me know with a comment.
I LOVE these playlists!! Thank you.
