I had different plans for today’s post, but then this morning I picked up this record, and after listening to a few songs on my headphones, I remembered how much I love it and decided to feature it on this “record club” post.
Here some more info on this 2004 record from the label Biscoito Fino’s website
“Considered by critics and musicians to be one of the most representative voices of the new generation of popular music, São Paulo native Mônica Salmaso continues her impeccable discography with the CD Iaiá, her fourth album in her career. “Iaiá is a great meeting of universes of musicians and composers, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro in a free, sometimes simple, sometimes complex way. Many songs were recorded live in the studio, and this makes this a more organic and lively CD”, says Mônica.
Owner of a sweet and penetrating voice, with a unique and rare timbre, Mônica has the power to transform her interpretations into classics – a quality typical of great singers. Her ability to move easily between the classical and the popular is remarkable, not limiting herself to the label of a singer of just one genre.”
