We are gearing up to hit the road with Rhiannon Giddens and her fabulous band and we are gonna be touring Europe in February and the US in March/April/May
If you have come to our shows before, you might know that I usually curate a playlist that plays while people come in and walk out of the theatre (and in the intermission too).
For this tour I have created a 5 hours long playlist with mostly upbeat sounds that are the sounds that for me inspired Rhiannon’s record “You’re the One”.
There is quite a bit of Soul, early Funk, Jazz, New Orleans grooves, Blues and some Afrobeat and a few other tracks from west Africa (orchestra Baobab and Tinariwen).
If you can’t access the full playlist on the widget, click here to listen to it directly on spotify
I hope you will enjoy this playlist and let me know your thoughts with a comment below
Also check our tour dates if you wanna catch us live!
What a perfect title! Can’t wait to read more. 🔪 🎹
I am absolutely thrilled you are doing this as I have been fascinated by - as you describe the connection between food and music (visual arts, too) and the reflections of its communities. A friend of mine use the expression "keeping the kitchen doors open" when it comes our own musical history, rediscovering our cultural backgrounds, etc!
